Temple Street is Ireland's National Children's Hospital and provides loving care to over 145,000 patients each year from all over Ireland. These patients and their families rely on Temple Street to provide the best care in the best possible environment.

EmpowerTheUser along with hundreds of other Irish based technology firms joined forces for the charity event “Techies4TempleStreet”. Now in its 3rd year, over 1,000 participants from the Tech community and their trusted advisors took to the streets of Dublin for a unique treasure hunt, a combination of outdoor activities with digital media challenges all whilst making an impact to the lives of sick children across Ireland.  Since the event began in 2015, Techies4TempleStreet has raised over €400,000* (not including 2017) for the hospital. These funds have made a huge difference in the lives of their patients and their families.

Urban Treasure Hunt, Through Streets of Dublin City

The urban treasure hunt is the only event of its kind in Ireland, merging challenging outdoor activities with a whole array of digital media pursuits. This year it took place onthe 7th of July. EmpowerTheUser's team, uniquely called Team “Wubba Lubba Dub Dub”, joined over 100 other teams who all set off from the RDS on Friday afternoon.

The teams were tasked with solving 50 location clues and completing a series of missions and Twitter challenges, including demonstrating advertising skills, mastering Dracula roars, deciphering fiendishly difficult clues and taking part in a variety of quests which were unlocked depending on the GPS location of the team. All of this was tracked by an online Mobile Adventures App . Lots of the ventures were then trending on Twitter over the course of the day as the teams shared their selfies, team successes and answers along the way.

The competition was fierce but friendly and, after three exhausting hours, teams returned to the RDS for an evening of fun, food and celebrations. Here, EmpowerTheUser were delighted to revel in the success of their day, tired but happy to have contributed to such a worthy cause.
